The Werewolf - 1975

sg
sg
The last of the three solo monster 45s, pulled from the A Story About Dracula, Frankenstein, and The Werewolf LP.

This one's a tad more atmospheric than the first two, and the dripping blood is a surprising detail for what's supposed to be a children's record.

Too bad Power Records (presumably) didn't want to pay Universal for the specific rights to their versions of the classic monsters; I would've loved to have seen Power Records' versions of The Invisible Man, The Mummy, and The Creature From the Black Lagoon.

I think it was probably less a matter of Power Records paying Universal for rights and more a matter of their deal with Marvel Comics, as all four of the individual monster releases were culled from Marvel published comics of the era - Tomb of Dracula, The Monster of Frankenstein, Werewolf By Night, and Man-Thing (of course).

Wow, this is fantastic! I remember getting this record and the Dracula one for Christmas one year. Loved it. I wish I could find these recordings now.
