Batman - The Catwoman's Revenge

Another super-cool Batman story that was never done in Book and Record form. This, like so many of the Power Record recordings, was repurposed onto LPs, along with a weird Batman TV show-style theme song.

And why is Wildcat so mad at Batman?

Ah, it's so good. Thanks for putting these up here. Makes time on the computer flow so much easier.

My 3 year-old son loves this version of the "Batman Theme" -- more than he loved Link Wray's version, which he liked better than the strange, extended theme from the 60's soundtrack.

It lacks the 'dunna-nunna-nunna-nunna' on guitar that's been making kids nutty for forty years; somehow it's more like a poor man's "One Mint Julep."

The boy specifically asks for, in 3 year-old Pidgin English, "...ladies sing 'Batmaaaaan'!"

To me, that funky Bat-theme was very appropriate for the grimmer, O'Neil/Adams Batman.

This story was also on the Batman LP I had, along with "Robin Meets Man-Bat", "Mystery of the Scarecrow Corpse" and a story about Gorilla Grodd (Holy Crossover)! It has an awesome Neal Adams front and back sleeve cover.

This just in -- breaking news on that weird Batman theme!

It was originally done by 'The Sensational Guitars of Dan and Dale,' a group of New York studio musicians composed of none other than Sun Ra and his group, and Al Kooper's Blues Project.

It was originally recorded for a toy company in 1966, with 11 other songs based on classical themes (and therefore in the public domain), with evocative Bat-titles.

I suppose this is sort of a Power Records continuity sequel to The Challenge of the Catwoman, where Batman deduces a cross-dress-disguised Catwoman isn't a man when she looks up and doesn't have an Adam's apple?

This record has been one of the most successful across the history. I stayed impacted since the first time I read it.

Help! Does anyone know the actress who voiced the Catwoman's voice in this, "Catwoman's Revenge"? She was awesome, and I've been entranced by this voice for years. Internet searches have not helped. I think she also did "Challenge of the Catwoman."
