Spider-Man - Bells of Doom

Track:
Bells of Doom

Another Spidey 45", featuring signed cover art by Bill Gow. Who is Bill Gow? Well, according to a commenter named Brian, he was an artist whose work "[A]ppeared mostly on the covers of Peter Pan and Kid Stuff Records in the 1970s." Mr. Gow, if you're out there, let us know, this blog would love to talk to you!

Its the Web-Slinger versus the Bell-Ringer! And why, 35 years later, do I still remember that ULTRA-Sonic Man's secret I.D. is recording engineer Sean Strickland? Those Power Records, they made a lasting impression.

I have quite a few "Kid Stuff" records from the 80s. Is that company connected to Peter Pan in any way?

I recall their MOTU storybooks to have mostly black and white interiors, which was quite a step down from Power Records!

And yes, it would be great to hear from this artist!

There's a Spider-man/Hulk record and (oddly) an Iron Man/Dr. Doom record from Kid Stuff in the early '80s. I think a couple of the voice actors were on some of the Power Records releases, but I don't know of any corporate connection between kid Stuff and Peter Pan Industries. If only someone would write and publish a well-researched book on the subject ...

Kid Stuff and Peter Pan Records were not connected business-wise, but aside from cover artist Bill Gow, they did have one other thing in common: voice actor Peter Fernandez. Best known as the voice director/script writer for "Speed Racer" (as well as the voice of the title character), he voiced and narrated several stories for Peter Pan/Power Records (examples: "Spider-Man and Friends", Peter Pan's production of "The Funky Phantom" and "Man Thing: Night of the Laughing Dead") and Kid Stuff Records ("Transformers: Attack of the Decepticons").
