Scooby-Doo LP

sgsg

Tracks:
Scooby-Doo and the Mystery of the Strange Paw Prints

Scooby-Doo and the Mystery of the Sticky Money

I had no idea Peter Pan Records ever did a Scooby-Doo record, when in fact they did several, some of which were book-and-record sets, like you see above. Aside from some dodgy artwork (check out Fred there), these stories are pretty close to the animated version, using (to my untrained ears) the same voice cast and some nice artwork on the interiors (which I haven't been able to find complete enough to post here...yet). Sorry about the less-than-stellar audio files, they were the best I could find via YouTube.

Sure, these are not Power Records, but even as a kid I always sort of lumped Scooby-Doo in with the world of superheroes, comics, and sci-fi, probably because they met Batman and Robin, and that was good enough for me! Rooby-rooby-roo!

Another PR flashback! I bought this album at Kings Island amusement park near Cincinnati, OH., some time in the early 80s. Kings Island had a kids section called "Hanna-Barbera Land" that was full of HB-themed rides, characters and shops. I have a photo of me and Scooby's mentally-challenged cousin, Scooby-Dum.

I believe somewhere on the album cover or label it mentions it's the original cast, and it is, except for Shaggy. Casey Kasem is no where to be heard. I think either Don Messick (Scooby) or Frank Welker (Fred) provides his voice instead. I seem to recall the cast is actually listed on the album label, which has to be a first for Peter Pan/Power Records

I've yet to come across my copy as an adult. I bet it's still in my Dad's house, packed away with my late mother's album collection. I may have to go dig for it now!

Get over there now Chris!

Casey Kasem must have been too busy with those Long Distance Dedications.

Peter Pan released 2 more "Scooby-Doo" albums: # 8214 (Christmas) and # 8222 (2 full-length stories), with the entire cast (including Casey Kasem) intact.
