Dinosaur Planet is another of the later period, Star Trek: The Motion Picture-inspired book and record sets. Like the previously covered adventure The Robot Masters, Dinosaur Planet is perfectly fine, if a little dull, comic book, but the audio portion is pretty good. The writers get the interaction of the characters pretty spot-on, and of course the dinosaur-centric plot is something the actual show could have never afforded to do!

Though I will say, while the idea of using photos of the actors makes sense from a marketing perspective, jeez do they look cheezy when paired with the comic book-style backgrounds!

Sulu gets some nice attention in this one, as a dinosaur expert - although the actor doesn't do much of a George Takei.

They tried to cast Kirk, Spock, and Chekhov to approximate what people knew. After that they weren't that worried about the rest of the crew!

I think they had the same Kirk thru all the Power Records/Peter Pan Star Trek recordings. He did a fine Shatner at a time when everybody and their brother wasn't going a William Shatner impression.

^Where was Kevin Pollack when you needed him?

I had this one as well. I think I may have gotten them as a set. Maybe through Sears Wish Book or something like that?

ENSIGN Sulu? Hahaha! At least he looks like the character this time, not like in the other books by Peter Pan!

Yeah, I had the 4-story big record as a kid, loved the Mirror of Futility (or whatever it was called). All hail the Nax Empire!
